4/19/14 - Mets vs. Braves

Mets lose 7-5
Starting Pitchers: Colon + Santana
Seats: Upper deck, first base side

On a chilly night at Citi Field, the Mets came close several times, but never managed to come back against the Braves. A strange play off Freeman’s foot that could not be overturned with the new review rules, and good Brave pitching sealed the deal. It was also Bark in the Park day, and some four-legged fans enjoyed the view from the Pepsi Porch.

3/31/14 (Opening Day) - Mets vs. Nationals

Mets lose 9-7
Starting Pitchers: Gee + Strasburg
Seats: Upper deck, first base side

New Mets season, new Jimi Hendrix walkup song for Lucas Duda, new mayor throwing out the first pitch. A lot of Mets-themed winter gear and a lot of optimism packed the stadium on this cold and exciting Opening Day, as well as a lot of love for Ralph Kiner, who was honored in a pre-game ceremony. Strasburg pitched well, but Gee was better, fiercely taking down the Nationals even without notching a lot of strikeouts, gunning down 15 batters in a row at one stretch. Lagares and Brown both homered, and we were one out away from a win, but the injured Bobby Parnell couldn’t get it done. The rest of the bullpen couldn’t get anyone out, except for Valverde, who pitched with unholy fire. David Wright netted a 2-run homer in the 10th, but it wasn’t enough to add to the Mets’ record of Opening Day wins.
